【报告内容简介】Dr. Musaev will present our integrated and collaborative approaches to the: (1) Solar-to-Chemical conversion including transition metal catalyzed water oxidation, designing of novel metal-to-metal charge transfer chromophores and novel methodology for interfacial electron transfer dynamics; and (2) Transition metal catalyzed  CH  bond functionalization.  This  talk  will  elaborate  our  efforts  on understanding the transition metal catalyzed C-H bond alkylation and amination reactions Dr. Musaev will analyze the factors (including nature of catalyst, auxiliary ligands, solvent, base and more) controlling the selectivity of these reactions and make intriguing predictions. Presented computational findings allowed us to gain insights into the mechanisms and important elementary steps of the reaction and nature of active species, which were critical for predicting/designing of new catalysts for water oxidation and C-H bond functionalization, as well as for improvement of reaction efficiency and catalyst TON.

【报告人简介】Dr. Jamal Musaev now serves as a director of Cherry L. Emerson Center. He received his master degree in Azerbaijan State University in 1978. After visiting scientist work, Prof. Jamal Musaev served as a researcher in USSR Academy of Science in 1981-1993 and he received his PhD degree in 1985. Then he joined Cherry L. Emerson Center of Emory University in 1993. He was appointed Manager there in 1993 and Director in 2006. His research interests include theoretical/computational studies and the development of hybrid computational methods applicable to nano-scaled systems. Dr. Musaev has published over 320 articles, two books and 6 book chapters (H-index reaches 52)
